“seasons” lyrics

Verse 1
I used to dream that I could just speed it up
I’d beg and plead, and say that I'd had enough
I’ve filled this ground with tears, my sweat, and blood
And You’d say, "Just wait, there’s good things yet to come”

Pre Chorus 1
If I could just go back, I’d tell myself

Chorus 1
Don’t get nervous
There’s something under the surface
It may look like it’s dying
But it’s about to start rising
And the winds are changing
There’s a reason it’s raining
Now, I know you can’t see it
But that’s the beauty of seasons

Verse 2
If I'd just known the things He had for me
Would be so much more than I could ever dream
I'd slow way down and take in everything
I'd tell myself “There’s no need to get worried.
Enjoy the journey!”

Chorus 2
Don’t get nervous
There’s something under the surface
It may look like it’s dying
But it’s about to start rising
And the winds are changing
There’s a reason it’s raining
Now, I know you can’t see it
But that’s the beauty of seasons

Bridge 1
When the ground gets hardest
Call on the God of the Harvest
Put your worries in the rearview
Cause there’s about to be a breakthrough!
What I thought was wasted
Led me to an oasis
So, I’ll keep on dreaming
Cause He's the God of the Seasons!

Chorus 3
Don’t get nervous
There’s something under the surface
It may look like it’s dying
But it’s about to start rising
And the winds are changing
There’s a reason it’s raining
Now, I know you can’t see it
But that’s the beauty of seasons

Tag 1
He's the God of the seasons!
Where would I be if I just sped it up?

“joy” lyrics

Verse 1
It’s not here and then gone tomorrow
It'll carry you so far
It’s a medicine for your sorrow
Like an elixir for your heart
It’s stronger than a chemical
It satisfies the cynical

Pre Chorus 1
Just trust and believe
Then ask and receive
I promise you that you will see Joy!

Chorus 1
Overflowing Joy!
Everything you’re searching for
I can guarantee
What tomorrow brings

Is okay with me, I got Joy!
All Consuming Joy!
To get me through the wildest storms
I got all I need!
Let the whole world see
I’m alive and free: I got Joy!

Verse 2
It’s not denial or delusion
No, I’m not running from real life
'Cause in the swirling and confusion
I know His Word will be my light
It’s a killer to anxiety
And kryptonite to unbelief

Pre Chorus 2
Just trust and believe
And ask and receive
I promise you that you will see Joy!

Chorus 2
Overflowing Joy!
Everything you’re searching for
I can guarantee
What tomorrow brings

Bridge 1
So, I throw off every worry
And I give you every single care!
No, I won’t fear tomorrow
‘Cause I know your
Love will meet me there! I got Joy!
(I got Joy! I got Joy! I got Joy!)
(I got Joy! I got Joy! I got Joy!)

Pre Chorus 3
I can guarantee
What tomorrow brings
Is okay with me, I got Joy!

Chorus 3
All Consuming Joy!
To get me through
the wildest storms
I can guarantee
What tomorrow brings
Is okay with me
I got Joy! I got all I need!

A FEW WORDS FROM
CLIFF PRESTON

The first lyric of this song speaks so much to me “When I think about what God has done for me.” The older I get, the more I think on those things. There aren’t many songs that I have been a part of that make me as grateful as “What Could Have Been” There is a reality that I believe it is important to face daily: Where would we be without Jesus? The reality is that it is a very dark place. As I reflect, thankfulness wells up inside of me. When I have the opportunity to lead worship, the emotion of understanding where He brought me from often comes out. I owe everything to him! Every good thing I have or have ever been a part of is Him.

As you walk through today, think back on what could’ve been and life today like it matters…because it absolutely does!

A FEW WORDS FROM
JONATHAN LEE MCELHENNY:

It is hard to put into words how much this song means to me.

It’s so easy to get distracted and lose perspective. It is so easy to take things for granted. I enjoy the freedom that my country provides for me, and rarely stop to think about the men and women that laid their lives down for me to have that freedom.

Even more so, God laid down His own life to give me a greater freedom. An eternal freedom. The thought for this song came to me in a moment of reflection: What if there was no cross? What if there was no blood? What if there was no resurrection? Where would I be? What would my life look like? All I could see was darkness.

Yes, it is true that we still face darkness every day, but there is a light and that light’s name is Jesus. Jesus broke through the darkness and rescued all who would believe. He poured out His life so we could that have life eternally. I tremble at the thought of what could have been, but I am so thankful that that’s not what happened. We are redeemed by the blood of the perfect spotless lamb.

My prayer is that whether it is through worship, prayer reading God’s word, or taking communion, that we never forget what God has done for us. We remember what could have been and give God praise for what He actually did. Thank you Jesus!

A FEW WORDS FROM
JORDAN MERRITT:

This song is such a special song to me. So many times we write songs about where we are or where we are going… and these are super important for us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and all that He has for us. But this song reminds us where we could’ve been if Jesus hadn’t stepped into our lives. I know for me and so many of us life was dark and sad and empty before we met Jesus… but the moment he stepped into our lives everything changed! I pray that this song reminds us of all that Jesus has done in our lives and restores the joy of our salvation!

A FEW WORDS FROM
JADE LUNDGREN

What Could Have Been is a beautiful reminder of all that Jesus has done for us. He has relieved us from darkness and chaos and being left in our sin. I’m so grateful that Jesus did break through the dark and took the cross for us. He set us all free and this song such a great reminder of that!

THE STUDY
BY
JONATHAN LEE MCELHENNY

When we step back and really start to think about what God has done for us, it’s overwhelming! He gave us the free gift of Salvation.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it”- Ephesians 2:8-9

We did nothing to earn it. We can’t afford it. We can’t even boast about it. It was given freely because He loves us. But still it is easy to take a gift for granted, forget the price that was paid, and what we were truly saved from.

As I was reflecting this, the terrifying thought occurred to me. What if there was no cross? No blood? No resurrection? What if Jesus left us in the mistakes that we made. The life we truly deserved. We wrote in the lyrics of this song that saying it would probably be something like this:

“Darkness no source of light
Cages I built through this life
Would capture me
And throw away the prison key

Chaos would wrestle my mind
Helpless I’d give up the fight
Without Him I’d be left here in my sin
That’s what could have been”

The apostle Paul mentions this in the bible in 1 Corinthians 15:12-18 (MSG)

“Now, let me ask you something profound yet troubling. If you became believers because you trusted the proclamation that Christ is alive, risen from the dead, how can you let people say that there is no such thing as a resurrection? If there’s no resurrection, there’s no living Christ.

And face it—if there’s no resurrection for Christ, everything we’ve told you is smoke and mirrors, and everything you’ve staked your life on is smoke and mirrors. Not only that, but we would be guilty of telling a string of barefaced lies about God, all these affidavits we passed on to you verifying that God raised up Christ—sheer fabrications, if there’s no resurrection.”

“If corpses can’t be raised, then Christ wasn’t, because he was indeed dead. And if Christ weren’t raised, then all you’re doing is wandering about in the dark, as lost as ever.”

But that’s not what happened! “The truth is that Christ has been raised up, the first in a long legacy of those who are going to leave the cemeteries”- 1 Corinthians 15:20 (MSG)

He did come! He died for all of our sins! He is risen! He is alive! We are free and we too can be resurrected!

“Jesus broke through the Dark
The earth shook
The doors were unlocked
He stormed the gates of Hell
And set the prisoner free

My Savior
Ransomed my life
My Hero
He won the fight
Without Him I’d be left here in my sin
Praise God that that’s
Not how this story ends
That’s what Jesus did!”

“I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said” - 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NLT)

We put ourselves into that darkness, we turned away from God. But! He will not leave us in the darkness. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” -John 3:16 (NLT)

All we must do it believe and confess:

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” -Romans 10:9 (NLT)

 We then become His people:

“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light."
- 1 Peter 2:9 (NLT)

God, I pray that no matter what darkness we are facing today, that you help us open our eyes. To see that you are the one and only light. To see the miracles that happen every day and to thank you for each one. Most of all thank you for the miracle of salvation and saving our souls. I am thankful that you loved us so much that you gave Your life so that we could have life. I pray that this song helps us remember where we came and helps us never forget what Jesus did!

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN | LYRICS

Verse 1
When I think about
What God has done for me
When I step back
And really start to think
I start trembling
Oh, I can't believe.

Verse 2
Amazing grace
Would save
A wretch like me
I’m nothing that’s
Of value to a King
Oh, I can’t believe
That He’d die for me.

Pre Chorus 1
Yeah, I’m so glad
He saved my soul
Cause if He didn’t
Aall I’d know is

Chorus 1
Darkness, no source of light
Cages I built through my life
Would capture me
And throw away
The prison key
Chaos would wrestle my mind
Helpless, I’d give up the fight
Without Him, I’d be left here in my sin
Yeah, that’s what could have been
That's what could have been

Verse 3

And if Jesus
Never stepped
Down from His throne
Then I’d be left for dead
Lost, and alone
I’d be drenched in shame
I’d be so afraid

Pre Chorus 2
Cause if there’s no blood
If there’s no cross
Then I’d be forced
To pay the cost for

Bridge
That’s not what happened!
That’s not how
The story ends! No, no, no!

Chorus 2
Jesus broke
Through the dark
The earth shook
The doors were unlocked
He stormed the gates of hell
And set this prisoner free
My Savior ransomed my life
My Hero, He won the fight
Without Him
I’d be left here in my sin
Praise God that's
Not how the story ends
Cause that’s what Jesus did!

Approaching Holy Week

Reflect on Jesus’ triumphal entry and the true nature of His Kingdom.

The Way Of The Cross

Consider Jesus’ point of view: riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, fully aware that the same crowd shouting “Hosanna!” would be yelling “Crucify Him!” just days later (Matthew 21:9; Matthew 27:22-23). What made His entrance triumphant wasn’t military might or political power—but the divine strength displayed through humility. He didn’t arrive on a warhorse to overthrow Rome. He came on a lowly donkey (Zechariah 9:9), revealing a different kind of King and a different kind of Kingdom—one whose triumph was not found in avoiding suffering, but in choosing the road that led to the cross.

This is the Kingdom Now, every knee bow. The Lord is here”

The crowds welcomed Jesus with palm branches and laid down their garments, honoring Him as Lord (Matthew 21:8). And yet, those who worshipped Him would soon fall silent or turn against Him altogether. Still, Jesus chose to enter the city, fully aware of what was coming. As Sean Carter wrote in Passion Song:

“The crowds gathered round Him like a king
Their smiling faces joined a sea of branches waving
Though they were masquerading in the end”

Holy Week speaks to the holiness of God. Jesus didn’t come seeking praise or popularity. He willingly came to give His life. Consider the following scriptures:

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).

“The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many”
(
Mark 10:45).

This is the beauty of the Gospel: Jesus’ power revealed in surrender and His victory through sacrifice. This is what sets King Jesus and His Kingdom apart.

Truly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit”- Jesus

And this is why we welcome Him—not only as Savior, but as Lord. That we might walk in His way. That we might show love and mercy to those who show us only hate.

This is the way of the Kingdom.

“And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and
To walk humbly with your God”
-Micah 6:8

SO BE IT LORD | LYRICS

So be it Lord
Should you lead me to the desert
Or to storms that I can't weather
That bring me to my end
So be it Lord

I'll find You're all I've ever needed
'Cause You'll meet me on my knees and
I'll rise up once again

Let it be done to me
According to Your word
There is a reason why
You placed me on this earth
Whatever it takes
Whatever You ask
Let Your will come to pass
Let it be done to me
According to Your word

So be it Lord
From the prisons
To the palace
To the one or
To the masses
I wanna see
Your kingdom come
So be it Lord

For Your fame and for Your glory
I will run the race before me
Until I hear well done

I know You're good always
My God You're good always
Your love is good always
And You're not letting go

a few words from jonathan

What I love most about this album is that it is a compilation—a blend of songs I’ve written with other artists and that I play with The Band Table. It’s truly an honor to share it with you. Each song has a deep meaning to me. I have worshiped, prayed and cried to each of them. I pray that these songs speak to your soul and help you walk closer with the Lord. That’s all that matters.

Lord, I pray that when we listen to these songs, Your anointing, Your presence, and Your voice speak louder than anything else. I pray that we feel so connected to You and that this album helps us to worship. I pray it opens up perspectives and challenges each listener to dig deeper into Your heart. Let each song bring You glory! In Jesus’ name! Amen!

jonathan lee mcelhenny BIO

Jonathan Lee McElhenny is a husband, father, pastor, worship leader and songwriter. But when asked to describe who he is, he answers, “matchmaker.” “I was created to worship, and to lead others in worship,” he says. “I like to think of myself as a matchmaker between God and man in partnership with The Holy Spirit. I want more than anything for people to have a true revelation of who God is because when people truly see Jesus, it changes them forever. That is what I am called to do. People many times have told me that my music helps them see Jesus, There is nothing better than that to me.”

Jonathan’s focus on making Jesus famous has attracted many talented artists to record songs he’s written. These artists include the Newsboys, For King & Country, Laura Story, Phillips, Craig & Dean, People & Songs, Jeff Deyo, Aaron Shust, Tricia Brock, Melanie Tierce, Rebecca St. James, Selah, Jordan Merritt, Acquire The Fire and others. Three of those songs have been nominated for four Dove Awards (Worship Song of the Year for “When The Stars Burn Down” by Travis Cottrell and Phillips, Craig & Dean, Inspirational Song of the year for ‘More And More Of You’ by Selah, Song of the Year and Pop Song of the Year for “Proof Of Your Love” by for King & Country.)

(Added Note- “When The Stars Burn Down” was number 1 on the charts inspirational Christian Radio.) “You Are My Shepherd” and “The Altar” by Tricia Brock were in the top 5 of inspirational Christian Radio along with “More and More Of You” by Selah which was also in the top 5 of inspirational Christian Radio. “Proof Of Your Love” by For King And Country was in the top of Christian Radio. “You Are My Shepherd,” “When The Stars Burn Down” and “Proof Of Your Love “have all won Sesac Awards.

McElhenny’s success is well-deserved, according to those who know him. “Jonathan is someone that I’ve written some of my best songs with” says co-writer, friend and label-head of People & Songs, Jennie Lee Riddle. “It’s a true honor to serve and help send him out as a blessing for such a time as this.” McElhenny is a highly successful songwriter, known as “Jonathan Lee”. And yet, he obeyed the urging of the Holy Spirit and transitioned from the road to full time pastoring in 2016. He says. “I want to leave a legacy that leads people to Jesus, and pastoring helps expand the Kingdom exponentially by helping others around me to grow in Christ. I love it."

Jonathan’s songs, co-written with notables Benji Cowart, David Moffitt, Chad Cates, Jennie Lee Riddle, Richie Fike, BJ Putnam, Doug Engquist, Corey Voss, Jordan Merritt, and Jared Anderson, bring the worshipper back to the basics as a follower of Christ. I’ve given up, my heart is now exposed
I stand before Almighty God alone

Bridge 1
There’s mourning breaking on the hill
The quiet dawns with peace and still
My restless heart is now at home
I stand here with my God alone

Bridge 2
There’s mourning breaking on the hill
The quiet dawns with peace and still
My restless heart is now at home
I stand here with my God alone

Chorus 3
I stand before Almighty God alone
I yield my need to cast the blame or stone
I’ve given up, my heart is now exposed
I stand before Almighty God alone (I stand!)

Chorus 4
I stand before Almighty God alone
(I stand before you!)
I yield my need to cast the blame or stone
(I lay it down, lay it down!)
I’ve given up, my heart is now exposed
(Take everything away!)
I stand before Almighty God alone

jonathan lee mcelhenny BIO

If the track record is any indication, Jonathan Lee McElhenny’s music will continue to match the hearts of men and women to the heart of a loving Savior.

"Human" by Jordan Merritt Q&A

In this Q&A, Jordan Merritt discusses his powerful new single “Human,” his journey in music and ministry, and his vision for bridging cultural divides through unity and honest conversation within the Church.

Human” question and answers

In this Q&A, Jordan Merritt discusses his new single Human,” his journey in music and ministry, and his vision for bridging cultural divides through unity and honest conversation within the Church.

Q: Please introduce yourself to our readers.

A: Hey! I’m Jordan Merritt! I’m a husband, father to 4 beautifully wild kids, an artist, songwriter, and producer! I was born and raised in a small town outside of Knoxville, TN, where I currently live. I love The Church, college football (GO VOLS), BBQ, and spending time with my people!

Q: Tell us about your life and journey to becoming an artist.

A: I started playing drums around 2 years old, so I’ve been told. My parents traveled and sang Southern gospel. Music was always a huge part of our family. Christmas parties were full of singing around a piano with everything from banjos to saxophones—it was beautiful! By 15, I was playing guitar, leading worship, and writing songs. Those early years in student ministry, at camps and retreats, deeply shaped me. I have devoted my life to serving Jesus, the Church, and anyone in front of me. I spent 14 years as a worship leader, pastor, and songwriter in churches across several states.

Q: How did you make the jump into the professional world as a touring artist?

A: About 3 years ago I was offered a record deal. I had been singing others’ songs and writing for others, but someone believed in me, and God made it clear to my wife and me that it was time for me to sing my own songs. Long story short, here I am, thrilled to be sharing what God has given me!

Q: Tell us about your latest single, “Human.”

A: My newest single, "Human," is honestly one of the most important songs I’ve ever been a part of. The first line of the chorus says, “Can we be human? I just want to have a conversation.” I had dialog with someone I love very much about politics, theology, and other weighty topics - and that became the inspiration. We disagreed on several things, but the respect, honor, and love we had for each other was beautiful! Open, honest conversation is the foundation of true relationships. This song is an invitation to have real and deep relationships that no longer avoid difficult or painful conversations. That’s one of the unique things that makes us human.

Q: What scriptures lay the foundation for “Human”?

A: John 17 has become the lens through which I see the world as Jesus prays for believers to be one, just as He and the Father are one, so that the world may know Him. How can we be one if we can’t even have open dialogue?

Q: How does this song speak to the current cultural climate within the Church?

A: The Church was made to exist in the world and influence it. We are at a crucial moment in time. We have the opportunity to model true unity, love, and reconciliation for our devastatingly hurting world, just as Jesus prayed in John 17. When we engage in conversation with grace, love, and truth, God will meet us there, and the world will see Jesus in us. He is the only cure for all the pain, and He uses us as His hands, feet, and voice. (Jn 13:34-35)

Q: The opening line of the song asks, “Can we be human?” Can you define what exactly you mean?

A: I’m hoping to call us to live in the fullness of who God created us to be. We were made in the image of God, with the ability to reason, love, and communicate in ways that make us unique. We aren’t animals and even angels are not our equals. We were made to have fellowship with each other and with God. This song calls us to engage one another, not with anger or animalistic instinct but with Holy Spirit inspiration, in the image of God.

Q: How do we “agree to disagree” without compromising the truth of God’s Word?

A: I’m going to answer this two ways.

To the Church: We have to stop being so defensive and stop behaving like divisive infants who are incapable of strong Truth. It’s time to learn how to genuinely love and converse with those in which we disagree in the family of God. If we cannot have non-vitriolic, respectful, transparent conversations about issues like cessationism, predestination, or women in ministry, how can we expect to have harder conversations with the lost about topics like abortion and homosexuality?

Now for the world: Number 1, I agree with God and His word. Period. Number 2, I understand that God gave us the gift of free will, and it is our choice and responsibility to handle it wisely. As long as choices aren’t hurting oneself or another individual, we are obliged to honor the gift God gave and agree to disagree. But as soon as one begins to hurt oneself or another, it is our responsibility, as the hands and feet of Jesus, to lovingly step in and restrain.

Q: You have a real desire to be a peace-maker. What is it that makes you angry?

A: I hate sin. I hate death. I hate the lie. But I get angry at self-righteous Pharisees because they bear the mark of Jesus without having the heart that made Jesus so deeply safe to be around. Because of this, sin is given fertile ground. So, yes, I’ll take a stand, but I’m not going to poison the water with my tone. Many in the church have lost the opportunity to have hard conversations with the world because of their lack of love (like a noisy gong - 1 Corinthians 13:1), and that makes it harder for those of us who still have the world's ear. I’m a new voice with a new opportunity to speak, and I don’t want it stolen by those who have all but forfeited theirs. I’m not the judge. I don’t get to make the call on who is or isn’t a Pharisee, I’m just deeply determined not to be one.

Q: What does love look like?

A: Well. 1 Corinthians 13 is pretty clear about what love is. Patient, kind, not envious or boastful, not arrogant or rude, not insistent on its way, not irritable, or resentful; It doesn’t rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. We are so quick to define love as we see it rather than how God sees it. Some define love as applauding other’s choices, as long as it makes them happy (Romans 1:32). But God’s word tells us “Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.” Others believe that the most loving thing we can do is arrogantly shout the truth at anything that moves. This is also so far from God’s way. We are called to be carriers of the truth of God AND conduits for His love. This is the beautiful tension in which we live

Q: What other projects are you currently working on?

A: I recently released Part II of my full-length album. Part I was released in March, and I’m finishing up the last few tracks to release the final installment. I’m part of The Band Table, and we’re on tour right now, so there’s a lot of writing, producing, and sharing songs happening.

Q: Anything else you’d like to say to our readers?

A: Yes! I’m so grateful for everyone who listens, prays, shares, sings, and worships through the music we put out! We do this for God, but also so others can share in the perspectives, stories, and prayers we, as artists, have. It’s one of the most beautiful things to see how songs God gives me encourage people around the world. I’m so thankful for each of you!

"Just Breathe" by Jonathan Lee Mcelhenny

Pre-Order Jonathan Lee Mcelhenny’s single, “Just Breathe.”

A Few Words from Jonathan

The world is groaning right now. There is a lot of division, anger, misunderstandings, and unforgiveness.

It’s really hard to see people that we call family, friends, neighbors, or even pastors and realize that we might be on two different sides of a coin. How do we reconcile this? How do we move forward?

It’s Jesus. It’s always been Jesus. When we come to Him together, there is healing. If there is correction that is needed (and there always is for every one of us), Jesus will speak to it, and if we trust Him and obey Him, He will lead us to life.

So, take a deep breath and just breathe. It won’t be as hard as you think. If you lean into Jesus, then you can forgive those that you don’t understand and those that don’t understand you. You can forgive those that you don’t know and those that you do—the ones that have hurt you on the surface and the ones that have hurt you deeply.

In the late Tim Keller’s book Forgive, he says this:

“Forgiveness, then, is a form of voluntary suffering. In forgiving, rather than retaliating, you make a choice to bear the cost”

How can we do this? How did Jesus do this?

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all” - Isaiah 53:4-6 (NLT)

This is how. This is the very model of forgiveness. This is just as the late Tim Keller says: “In forgiving, rather than retaliating, you make a choice to bear the cost.”

Why did Jesus bear this cost?

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” -
John 3:16 (NLT)

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” -Romans 5:8 (NLT)

That is why. His love for His creation has no end. He was and is willing to carry the cost for our sins so that we can know Him, love Him, and have life with Him.

So how can we show this kind of love and forgiveness?

Well, first, we can start by receiving God’s forgiveness for the things we have done.

“But the Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him”- Daniel 9:9 (NLT)

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” - 1 John 1:9 (NASB1995)

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” -Psalm 103:12 (NASB1995)

We must first recognize how broken we are and the hurt that we have caused. We let God forgive us and help us walk in forgiveness. Then we give Him our burdens—the things we were never meant to carry. (Read Matthew 11:28-30)

Jesus purchased our pardon for the things we have done and that have been done to us. He also purchased us freedom and healing from the resulting hurt.

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light”- Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)

When we give Him our burdens and trust Him, He says: “Let me teach you.” That is the key. Come to Him, be forgiven, and learn how to let it go and how to forgive. Take His yoke upon you, for it is lighter than the one you carry.

In the back half of the bridge of this song, it says: “It’s okay; do you know that you’ve been forgiven? Release it and go start forgiving those that have hurt you, and start breathing again

Friends, this isn’t easy, but it is necessary. It’s a process that we all walk daily with the Lord. We absolutely need Him to show us where we need forgiveness and where we are wrong, and then ask for grace to extend that to others. But if we let it go, give it to Him, and trust Him—let Him correct us and teach us—then we will be free.

It might be the hardest thing you ever have to do, but just take it one day at a time and remember to just breathe.

just breathe lyric video

just breathe LYRICS

Verse 1
I know your story
You are the hurt one
A victim of living
On this broken earth
You might feel damaged
By the weight of this burden
What you are given
Is not what you deserve

Pre Chorus
It might be true that
Forgiveness is freedom
But the image of loving the guilty
Just leaves you undone

Chorus 1
Just breathe
It won’t be as hard as you think
You’ll feel the weight of the world
Lifted off of your shoulders
Just think
You’ve been the one in need
Of mercy and grace undeserved
Helping you to start over
The Father forgives
He teaches to forgive!

Verse 2
Do you know His story?
He was the victim
He made the hands that,
Then turned to hit him
Nailed to the cross
He said "Father forgive them"
And it was finished
The death you deserved

Chorus 2
Just breathe
It won't be as hard as you think
He took the weight of the world
And placed it upon His shoulders
Just think He knows your every need
Of mercy and grace underserved
It heals you over and over
The Father forgives
He teaches to forgive

Bridge 1
It’s okay, the tears
Are releasing the tension!
Just know child that
You have permission!
To grieve and let your
Heart start beating again!

Bridge 2
It’s okay, do you know
That you’ve been forgiven?
Release it and go start forgiving
Those that have hurt you!
Start breathing again!

Tag 1
Start breathing again!
Start breathing again!

Bridge 3
It’s okay, do you know
That you’ve been forgiven?
Release it and go start forgiving
Those that have hurt you!
Start breathing again!

jonathan lee BIO

“Jonathan is someone that I’ve written some of my best songs with.” Says co-writer, friend and label-head of People & Songs, Jennie Lee Riddle.

If the track record is any indication, Jonathan Lee McElhenny’s music will continue to match the hearts of men and women to the heart of a loving Savior.

a few words from jade lundgren

These songs have been living in mine and my family’s hearts for a long time and I’m excited that they can now come alive in yours! Each of these songs come from a special place, have done special work in our hearts, and mean so much to us. Some songs were written from the mountaintop and some in the valleys, but one thing that they all have in common is that they tell of the Constant One through it all. My prayer is that God would use them to speak to the places in our hearts that need His joy, encouragement, and hope. I love you all!

A few words from jade

I’d Rather Be With You” is a slight remake of an older song I originally titled “Italy, France.” I wrote it while lying next to my babies, and it was one of those rare moments when a song feels more like a gift from God than something you had to create. It came so quickly, I felt like I had to rush to capture it on paper.

This song is a heartfelt expression of love that has been deeply meaningful to our family for a long time. We are loved perfectly by God, and my hope as you listen is that the purity of God’s love for you will bring you healing and peace; My prayer is that one day, you find yourself delightfully surprised as you hear yourself telling Jesus, ‘I’d Rather Be With You.” There is nothing better than Him.

i’d rather be with you
lyrics

Verse 1
Italy, France
Top of the peak
I’d rather be with you
Making a buck
Swimming the deep
I’d rather be with you

Verse 2
Valentine’s Day
Fourth of July
I’d rather be with you
Cold snowy day
Warm summer night
I’d rather be with you

Chorus 1
'Cause when you’re in my arms
I can’t believe I have to be
Anywhere else than here
When you’re in my arms
I don’t know why I have to be
Anywhere else than here

Verse 3
Running the race
Winning a gold
I’d rather be with you
A stage and a crowd
Or hitting the road
Well, I’d rather be with you

Verse 4
Jump on a flight
See the ends of the earth
I’d rather be with you
Jupiter, Mars, or the whole universe
I'd rather be with you

Bridge 1
When it’s me and you
I can’t believe I got so lucky
That I should know you
When it’s me and you
I don’t know why I got so lucky
That I should know you

Verse 5
When we’re apart
If I’m not here
I’d rather be with you
Remember this song
Know how I feel
I’d rather be with you
This world will go on
With all of it’s charm
I’d rather be with you

"Like Snow" by Jade Lundgren

Listen to “Like Snow" by Jade Lundgren from her debut album.

Listen to Jade Lundgren’s debut album, featuring “Come to Life
and many more uplifting songs.

A few words from jade

Like Snow” was inspired by Psalm 51, one of my favorite passages—a prayer of humble repentance, asking the Lord to wash us once again. David’s prayer of repentance is one the church continually returns to. The phrase “Bend the knees of my heart” comes from an ancient prayer I read, and I was immediately captivated by the beautiful imagery. I’ve also been deeply influenced by Heidi Baker’s prayer, “Lower still.”

Lord, bend the knees of my heart and keep me low to the ground. “Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.” The imagery of the Lord washing us, making us pure and white, is so powerful. Sin leaves a crimson stain, and only Christ’s righteousness can make us clean again. Praise God that He does this!

If you’ve never asked the Lord to wash you from the stain of sin, I pray that you would.

like snow lyrics

Verse 1
Put a clean heart inside me
Like only You do
O God, You have seen how wrong I can be
Put a clean heart inside me

Pre Chorus 1
Wash me and I will be whiter than snow
Wash me and I will be whiter than snow

Chorus 1
Bend the knees of my heart
Keep me low to the ground
Keep me low, keep me low
Bend the knees of my heart
Wash me and I will be whiter than snow
Like snow, oh, oh
Like snow, oh, oh

Verse 2
And Oh, the mercy of Jesus
It covers us worst ones, it covers me
And Your blood, the greatest of fountains
Oh, mighty ocean please cover me

Pre Chorus
Wash me and I will be whiter than snow
Wash me and I will be whiter than snow

Chorus 2
Bend the knees of my heart
Keep me low to the ground
Keep me low, keep me low
Bend the knees of my heart
Wash me and I will be whiter than snow
Like snow, oh, oh
Like snow, oh, oh

Bridge 1
I fall on Your mercy, Jesus, Redeemer!
I cling to Your goodness
My Saviour My Healer
! I fall on Your mercy, Jesus, Redeemer!
I cling to Your goodness, My Saviour, My Healer!

Chorus 3
Bend the knees of my heart
Keep me low to the ground
Keep me low, keep me low
Bend the knees of my heart

"Mercy Of Jesus" by Jade Lundgren

Listen to Jade Lundgren’s debut album, featuring “Come to Life

A few words from jade

The mercy of Jesus truly can cover us worst ones. God can forgive the worst we’ve ever done, and when repentant, even the most heinous of the world’s sins. It’s jarring, hard to fathom, and altogether incredible that Jesus died, choosing to shower His mercy on people such as us.

Praise God that His blood is strong enough and His mercy is new every single morning. It was an honor to write these words with Jennie Riddle, and the song, both in lyrics and melody, reminds me every time I hear it of the vastness, totality, and jaw-dropping kindness of God’s grace. May every heart truly mean and sing along with, “It covers me!”

a few words from jennie

Of all the songs I’ve been invited to participate in, this one rose to the top immediately as an all time favorite. I’m so grateful Jade brought this one forward. I’ve loved it so much. I’ve put it on several records. It’s most certainly my testimony, along with so many saints that walked headlong into the prodigal pit. I am so grateful to be Home. It is a true, long-awaited blessing to send out this beautiful rendition from Jade for such a time as this.

mercy of jesus lyrics

Verse 1
I'm no stranger to sin and I've hurt You so
I don't do what I ought, I don't live what I know
But I fall in Your arms, cry "Father, I've lost."
The battle was long, the lines were all crossed

Chorus 1
But Oh, the mercy of Jesus
It covers us worst ones, it covers me
Your blood, the greatest of fountains
Oh, mighty ocean please cover me

Verse 2
I've squandered my love
I've spent all my life
I find myself lost 'cause I chose to hide
Oh Savior, come save, I'm sick and in need
Will You come heal what I've done to me?

Chorus 2
And Oh, the mercy of Jesus
It covers us worst ones, it covers me
And Your blood, the greatest of fountains
Oh, mighty ocean please cover me

Bridge
All the sins of the world
Were washed by Your blood when
You spilled all Your love
Does Your heart still pour out?
Forgive all my sin, Oh, dear mercy I run

Chorus 3
Oh, the mercy of Jesus
It covers us worst ones, it covers me
Your blood, the greatest of fountains
Oh, mighty ocean please cover me

"Leaven of the Stage" by Jade Lundgren

Listen to “Leaven of the Stage" by Jade Lundgren from her debut album.

Listen to Jade Lundgren’s debut album, featuring “Come to Life
and many more uplifting songs.

A few words from jade

In Matthew 16, Jesus said, “Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees.” Similarly, in 1 Corinthians 5, we read, “Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough?” Fame, platform, profit, and celebrity culture can threaten to leaven ministry.

The priesthood was sacred, set apart for the Lord. I believe that those of us in ministry, Christian music, or serving the Lord in any capacity need to continually check our hearts. We must be mindful of the worldly ways of thinking and doing that may have crept in. Luke 12 says, “Be on your guard against all kinds of greed.” We need to stay alert to this.

As humans, our motives may never be 100% pure in anything—especially in work, careers, or when dealing with an “audience,” which all too often gets mixed into ministry. “The leaven of the stage spread like disease.” Globally, I believe God is purifying His people and His Church. Sometimes this means exposing leaders in ministry who have tried to conceal their sin. When God exposes, I believe it’s His mercy, giving people time to step into His light and repent.

Jordan Merritt and I wrote this song in humility, fully aware that we, too, have been tempted to steal from Jesus by using ministry and music to serve ourselves. “You be big, I’ll be small” is a prayerful cry for the Lord to increase as we decrease. Jesus, we’re sorry—for ourselves and on behalf of Your Church—for the various, insidious ways we’ve twisted serving You.

leaven of the stage lyrics

Verse 1
I did my way, but it led me straight to hell
I asked for faith, but I really wanted wealth
I used your Name, to bring myself applause
I was dead inside, they couldn’t tell at all

Verse 2
Wow, look at me, I thought I earned it all
All I really had was a crowd to watch me fall
All I ever really wanted was Your love
When did I decide that it was not enough?

Chorus 1
Jesus, I’m sorry for the way I steal from You
I never meant to hurt, I’m just deceived and so confused
Jesus, I’m sorry for my selfishness and lies
Have mercy on my sin, and heal the sickness of my pride

Verse 3
I used to say, "Lord, You are all I need”
But the leaven of the stage spread like disease!
Oh, I went to war, but I didn’t count the cost
On earth, I’d won, but perhaps I really lost

Verse 4
I never thought I could be this far from home
I even thought I could fix it on my own
Did I run too far? Oh, hear my cry for help!
Forgive me, God! I’m exhausted with myself

Chorus 2
Jesus, I’m sorry for the way I steal from You
I never meant to hurt, I’m just deceived and so confused
Jesus, I’m sorry for my selfishness and lies
Have mercy on my sin, and heal the sickness of my pride

Bridge 1
'Cause You rise when I fall!
When I’m weak You are strong!
You be big, I’ll be small!
It’s what I wanted all along!
So take all that’s left
Pull this crown off my head!
This is all that I need
On my face here at Your feet

Chorus 3
Jesus, I’m sorry for the way I steal from You
I never meant to hurt, I’m just deceived and so confused
Jesus, I’m sorry for my selfishness and lies
Have mercy on my sin, and heal the sickness of my pride

The crown jewel of my life is Jesus. He’s the high point, the whole point, and the most noteworthy thing about me. He interrupted the course of my normal teenage life, and at 16, opened my eyes to my need for a Savior and gave me the grace and courage to leave my normal life behind and follow Him. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me, and I have happily dedicated my life to loving and serving God however He sees fit”- Jade Lundgren
